Multiplying Churches: Training for Starting and Developing Church Planting Movements! --  A Video Workshop with George Patterson and Kevin Sutter.

This interactive video workshop is designed to equip pioneer missionaries with the skills to not only plant indigenous cells and churches but to spark a spontaneously multiplying church planting movement.  “Our main objective in creating this video workshop,” explains George Patterson, “is to see churches reproduce churches.”

George Patterson currently teaches in the Division of Intercultural Studies at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. Dr. Ralph Winter of the US Center for World Missions describes George as “one of the two or three world experts in the growth of the church,” and calls his missionary career “legendary.” He coaches and trains missionaries to multiply churches in many regions of the world.

Kevin Sutter, International Director for Youth With A Mission’s church planting coaches says: “George and I have run these workshops over many years, for different organizations and in dozens of countries. I’ve watched YWAM’s career church planters apply these Biblical principles among the unreached. We’re seeing fruit—disciples are made, churches are born and multiply. This action oriented, practical training is for people who want to simply obey Jesus and help complete the Great Commission!”

No one learns church planting skills from classroom lectures. Thus, from the start, trainees form a temporary, but real, “house church,” practicing all the essential church elements.

The workshop is organized into 10 sessions: each includes a half-hour video teaching, simulations, skits, role-plays, small group discussions, prayer, etc.--all to help make the teaching highly relevant. Each of the ten sessions should take 2-3 hours if done properly.

A workshop leader’s guide provides a simple, step-by-step process for leading groups through the workshop. This video workshop is adaptable and well suited to training individuals and teams both in mission agency training programs (in YWAM this would include: School of Frontier Missions, School of Strategic Missions, School of Evangelism, School of Missions, Foundations of Community Development) as well as in local churches.
